SYNOPSIS:
It describes something magic but also scientifically possible. An hotel in Sicily, a group of jazz musicians on rehearsal. Two women coming from Rio de Janeiros favelas and a famous percussionist who disappeared. A quartet of unlikely characters (a group of musicians) in search of the wizard Candomblé, hired by drug traffickers, looking for the formula to retrieve the lost friend. Picaresque and poetic adventures in Brazil and in Sicily and the grand final concert. The film was written and directed on the narrative principle of melodrama. It is a meditation on the state of being contemporary, on the value of music and poetry, on magical and rational thought, on the danger we have, today, to disappear for the theft of consciousness.

For a long time Luigi Cinque worked with the European new music and international ethnojazz, the avantgarde theatre, visual art and the new dance. He also collaborated with Carlo Quartucci, Pina Bausch, Jannis Kounellis, Bonito Oliva, Balanescu Quartet, Nanni Balestrini, Vs Naipaul, Paco Taibo II. He published records and books for CRAMPS, BMG, Ricordi, MRF, Sossella, Squilibri, Longanesi, Stampa Alternativa, Fandango. In 2003, his album Tangerine Café won the international critics' prize as best album of the European World Music. His concert group is the Hypertext O'rchestra. As filmmaker he wrote and directed numerous works for Rai, Artè France, Canada, Spain. Transeuropæ Hotel is his first feature film.
