SYNOPSIS:
Rugby, is introduced at juvenile detention centre as special activity for mental and physical development of inmates. The lead character, Nika is faced by a dilemma to sacrifice his authority among the prisoners in favour for the feeling of personal freedom.
The dramatic story of Negative Numbers includes social and moral problems, which exist in modern post-soviet society. The criminal system, which has been the established lifestyle for years, as well as it’s mentality. A lot of people have been victims of this system, especially adolescents, who try to act like adults and do not realize that they have become part of a cruel and violent system. Our society tries to isolate themselves from these “negative” youngsters and thus pushes them towards committing new crimes.

Uta Beria (1987, Georgia) is a 32 year old film director and screenwriter. In 2009 he graduated from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University with a B.A. in Film and TV Directing. In 2010-2011 attended Screenwriting Program at Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University and graduated with a M.F.A. Degree.
He is an author of short films: “In The Rain” (2007); “Tea” (2009). Director of a video clip: “Broadlands 10” (2011). Co-screenwriter of a feature film “The Last Stroll” (2011) directed by the Oscar nominated Zaza Urushadze.
