SYNOPSIS:
Since seventy years the Karen, one of the most important ethnic minorities in Burma, have been fighting for their freedom, at first against the Japanese and still today against the military regime in power. A conflict forgotten by the world at large, the longest armed resistance in contemporary history, in which the Karen women have always fought in the first line. Zoya Phan is one of them and her adventure-filled autobiography has nailed the Burmese military to their terrible responsibilities of the regime: massacres, rapes, deportations and the conscription of child soldiers. Sought by killers of the regime, the “little guerrilla” has managed to secretly return to her homeland several times to continue to fight on, after decades of wars and suffering, for their freedom and self-government.

The director Giancarlo Bocchi has made a range of films which have won international prizes and has directed documentaries on conflicts in many places of the world, like Afghanistan, Burma, Bosnia, Chechenya, Colombia, Kosovo, Libia, Northen Ireland, Palestina, Siria, Somalia, Tajikistan and Westerm Sahara.
