SYNOPSIS:
The hospital calls Fareed. His wifes situation is critical; the cancer has reached its terminal stage. Pensioner Roli comes to his help and takes him to see his wife who passes away shortly after. Her funeral falls under the jurisdiction of Amrikon council. Fareed wants to see his wife buried in accordance with Muslim rites. Roli is keen to help Fareed and his daughters but problems quickly arise.
A family plot would allow for the body to be buried diagonally facing Mecca. But even family graves are exhumed after 25 years and allocated anew. For Muslims this disturbance of peace is an absolute taboo.

BIOGRAPHY:
Jan-Eric Mack, class 1983, Switzerland. He worked as a graphic designer from 2001 to 2009, when he began studying film at the Zurich University of Arts.Since then he has made several awarded short films. His diploma film ALFONSO premiered at the 66th Festival del Film Locarno and won the Cinema e Gioventù Award in the Pardi di domani competition. After his studies he founded the society FilmAtelier Zurich with Maria Sigrist and Lorenz Suter, which is a network for young auteur filmmakers with a focus on script and new material. In January 2014 he was able to present an evening full of his own films in the Meet the Talent series of the Zurich cinema Xenix. In April 2014 he accompanied Sabine Harbecke as guest director at the project NAHKAMPF at the theater of Lucerne. He now lives in Zurich and works as a freelance director and independent graphic designer. Since autumn 2014 he has been doing his master studies in feature film directing at the Zurich University of Arts.
