Natalia and Carlos, both aged 20, are in love and struggling to survive in today’s Spain. Their limited resources prevent them from getting ahead as they’d like to. They have no great ambitions because they have no great hopes. To earn some money, they decide to shoot an amateur porno film. The birth of their daughter Julia is the main catalyst for the changes they make.

Sidney always wanted to be a rock star, but he ended working for tips as a dive bar dragqueen instead. His life takes a dramatic turn when his ex vanishes after she unexpectedly drops their 11-year-old son off at his apartment. Sidney has been able to hide his personal demons from his son for most of his life, but as the stresses of single parenthood take their toll on Sidney, his life starts to fall apart.

Two sweet elderly women make a sunday drive in their Fiat 850 which is their 50-year-old Sunday habit. However, in comparision to the 60s, wth the passage of time, the situation has got tougher. The modern city is a chaos in which they get isolated, remembering the times of their youth. Today their romantic and sweet excursion has a completely different flavor.

An accountant, a post office employee, a fashion designer, a city counselor, and a public official. Five ordinary people, with daily lives in work, family and face injustice, handcuffs, endless trials, and unjust imprisonment. A polyphonic portrait demonstrates the unbridgeable extent of limestones utilized between jail cells, their households and courts, but later there is a rebirth and an attempt to put all such experiences behind. An experience which has left wounds that may never heal.

A young Girl In Her Nineties (Une jeune fille de 90 ans)

In the geriatric care section of the Charles Foix d’Ivry hospital, Thierry Thieu Niang, a famous choreographer, is running a dance workshop for Alzheimer’s patients. Through dance, lives are told, memories recounted: regrets, bitterness, moments of joy and solitude. Blanche Moreau is 92 years old. During the filming, she has fallen in love with the choreographer Thierry. The simple fact of falling in love being crazy enough as it is, there’s no longer anything else mad or delirious about Blanche: her illness has simply become lovesickness.

The Islamic world is diverse and complex, and it is often subject to oversimplification and prejudice. The point of view of female Muslims is virtually absent from the current debate. Sumaya (blogger, first Muslim city councilor in Milan), Takoua (cartoonist from Rome) and Batul (psychiatrist from Trento) are three emancipated, ironic and opinionated women with whom cover most of the issues inflaming the debate on the the Muslim world are covered. From the uncertain outcome of the Arab Spring, to the growing Islamophobia, they provide an unusual and powerful portray of young Muslim females in today’s Europe.

L’assedio – Mille giorni a Sarajevo

In April 1992, Hidajet, the fifty-year-old manager of a State-owned enterprise, an atheist of Muslim ethnicity and a fervent admirer of Tito, in the space of just a few hours found himself and his whole family in the front line. He was forced to fight in the trenches of Sarajevo against the ‘Chetniks’, the militia that had re-emerged from the graves of history, who had killed his Partisan father back in 1942, before he was born. Although he had taken up arms, Hidajet was fighting to avoid taking death for granted and he simply could not accept such an inexplicable war wrapped in a spider’s web of disreputable interests. In the city, his family too were in the front line. In the house under sniper and artillery fire, his mother Muniba, one of Tito’s Partisans, and his wife Gordena, a Serbian’Montenegrin with Croatian and Italian grandparents, had to defend their multi-ethnic roots and stand up to the siege daily. Without electricity,water or food, they supported Hidajet as well as Nebojsa, Hidajet and Gordena’s twenty-year-old son, who was studying painting and sculpture at the Academy, and spent three days a week among paints, brushes, canvasses and sculptures, and four at the front with a precision rifle in his hands. Twenty years after the first shots for the film, Hidajet and his family are back to talk about the siege. Muniba is now ninety-six and would like to die without seeing the fourth
war of her life. After retiring, Hidajet took a degree in literature and in a collection of his poetry wrote: ‘We, the last of the middle world. We, between the dead and the living.’ Gordena remains heartsick and desperate for her country, currently split into different regions in the hands of war profiteers. Nebojsa is now an internationally renowned artist, but stung by profound bitterness. ‘The war was lost by everyone to an equal extent. And not only did we lose the war, we also lost peace.’ Twenty springs may have gone by, but the struggle continues.

Mixteip the greatest tape ever told

‘Mixteip’ is a story about memories, heart-break and nostalgia told through the eyes of a c-cassette. A divorcing couple is emptying their shared home and violently splitting their shared memories. Photos, albums and records are cut to pieces. The discovery of a forgotten c-cassette derails the rampage. The music of this long-lost mixtape takes the couple back to their youth and face the fact that the past is something they cannot erase.
