When their mother goes missing in Spirit Lake, three half-sisters travel home to settle her affairs. The youngest sister, June, a documentary filmmaker, captures their bittersweet homecoming. But when the sisters jokingly summon a local ghost, their relationship begins to unravel and they find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the true mystery of the lake.

Mondial 2010

Mondial 2010 is a film on love and place. A Lebanese gay couple decides to take a road trip to Ramallah. The film is recorded with their camera as they chronicle their journey. The viewers are invited through the couple’s conversations into the universe of a fading city.

Note: The relations between Israelis and Lebanese are governed by the 1943 Lebanese Criminal Code and the 1955 Lebanese Anti-Israeli Boycott Law, the former of which forbids any interaction with nationals of enemy states, and the latter of which specifies Israelis, making a trip for a Lebanese citizen to Israel (or Palestinian territories) impossible.

A series of vignettes based on true stories collected for the “Stories Of Our Lives” project. ”Ask Me Nicely” (Itisha Poa): Kate, a rebellious young high school student, meets first-love Faith, a fellow student. When school authorities separate the two, Kate impulsively has a sexual encounter with a boy in her neighborhood. ”Run”: Patrick stumbles upon a local gay bar with his homophobic best friend, Kama. Patrick later returns to the club for a night out, hoping no one will find out. ”Athman”: farm workers Raymond and Athman have been close friends for years. Hurt by Athmans flirtatious relationship with newcomer Fiona, Raymond has to make a difficult choice. ”Duet”: Jeff is waiting in a hotel room to fulfill his ultimate fantasy of having sex with a white guy. Finally, there is a knock at the door. ”Each Night I Dream”: when local legislators threaten to enforce anti-gay laws and tension in their neighborhood increases, Liz visualises dramatic escape plans for herself and partner Achi.

Kebab and Horoscope

Kebab & Horoscope is a story about awkward people, who seek love in life. My characters clumsiness confronted with the absurd world makes my film a comedy. Comic aspect, though, is only to soften a tough story about loneliness, unfulfilled need of love and sadness. My actors have peculiar looks, on the visual level they build each other by contrast. Static camera, observing heroes more than participating, cold shades, are underlining characters alienation. Narration will build an absurd and funny film about people, who discover, that there is no sense in trying to fight against loneliness.

Trid Cme’ La Bula

This original documentary is about the Parma Resistance in 1922, when the citizens of the quarter of Oltretorre pushed back Fascist squadristi. The author and the group of eight actors, that play credible but fictional characters, try to describe the event from the beginning to nowadays. The set is the currently Oltretorre quarter that during the documentary is often related to the Amoretti pictures of the 20s. Plebian peoples in the pictures take life through imaginary biographies played by actors in the flesh that tell us about these lives and the historical fact. Actors are filmed in boroughs while practicing and wearing vintage costumes and interacting with currently Oltretorre inhabitants. The live cinematic narration without voice overs or archive material is followed just by selected pictures that have been enlarged to enter that world and that lives, in the most credible way.

Il segreto di Otello

Right in the courtyard of a Roman palace, just next to the Spanish Steps, lies Otello an old and typical Italian restaurant: immediately after the second World War, this restaurant became the meeting point of a group of young directors and screenwriters, as well as Ettore Scola, Mario Monicelli, Federico Fellini, Pierpaolo Pasolini, Gillo Pontecorvo, Michelangelo Antonioni, Luchino Visconti and many others. Among those tables they conceived some of the most beautiful pages of “Neo-realism” and “Commedia all’italiana”. Also actors, directors and writers from the international scene visited the restaurant. “Otello’s secret” celebrates that particular season of the cinema. These and other stories are told by Robert De Niro, Ugo Gregoretti, Elsa Martinelli, Giuliano Montaldo and many others.
