Since seventy years the Karen, one of the most important ethnic minorities in Burma, have been fighting for their freedom, at first against the Japanese and still today against the military regime in power. A conflict forgotten by the world at large, the longest armed resistance in contemporary history, in which the Karen women have always fought in the first line. Zoya Phan is one of them and her adventure-filled autobiography has nailed the Burmese military to their terrible responsibilities of the regime: massacres, rapes, deportations and the conscription of child soldiers. Sought by killers of the regime, the “little guerrilla” has managed to secretly return to her homeland several times to continue to fight on, after decades of wars and suffering, for their freedom and self-government.

Paradise Cruise

Dora returns to Israel and spends most of her time photographing commemoration ceremonies and military Funerals. It is part of her art project, capturing the glance of a man who witnessed life and death. She meets Yossi a rebellious young man just out of military service, they become close and fall in love. Through an unwritten contract between them, they never speak of or mention their past. But the past haunts them and their love is put to test.

What happens when a bank fails? For example it is gonna be squatted by 3000 people and transformed into a housing project. Downtown Caracas a 200 meter skyscraper-ruin is rising up to the Caribbean sky and is used as a shelter for 750 families. Ignored by the city’s administration and dreaded by the neighborhood the inhabitants of Torre Confinanzas build up their own model of a socialist micro-society in their vertical city. Ruina tells about difficulties and achievements by building up a social community.
