In one of many southern cities in full expansion, the last inhabitants of a working-class neighborhood are evicted from their homes. Renovated, the neighborhood is being transformed into a new luxurious residential district of the city. Manuela, a young mother of two children, her husband Nico, who just left prison, and his brother Enzo got 24 hours to find a new place to stay. But destiny makes them turn against each other. And each of them will have to choose which side to be on.

Umbra

“Umbra” is a fairy tale set in the Umbrian Forest that tells the story of Vitalba, a curious little girl but with the head always in the clouds. After their arrival, in fact, Vitalba looses herself. The meeting with mysterious and magic characters will change her outlook on life and she will never be the same.

Jonathan’s responsibilities belie his age, for at 23, his days begin and end with caring for his ailing father, Burghardt, and running the family farm with his aunt, Martha. As time goes by and Burghardt’s condition deteriorates, Martha hires Anka, a nurse who helps take care of him, and with whom Jonathan falls in love. While their relationship flourishes, Burghardt’s emotional distance to his family reveals a devastating secret, one which will come to light with the arrival of Burghardt’s old friend Ron. Having learned the truth, can Jonathan forgive his father?

The film laments the depredations of tourism in Croatia and the greed that invites it. At the same time, the film celebrates the conservation of a way of life that helps preserve the identity of the island.

2 Girls

Lota and Tigist, two girls living in two different countries, Bangladesh and Ethiopia, are linked to each other by a similar difficult journey. They both come from rural areas and have faced either poverty or abuse. Therefore, running away is their only solution. Their next destinations are the metropolitans of Dhaka and Addis Ababa. They embark on parallel, incredibly harsh journeys through which they meet their destinies and hopes. Yet, despite their tough lives, they reveal an inner strength and great dignity. They come from poverty, fall into even worse conditions, but they never give up striving to improve their conditions. Both fight for a life that, maybe tomorrow, will become better.
