SYNOPSIS:
Louise and Martine Fokkens are identical twins. For over 40 years they were prostitutes. They freed themselves from the control of their pimps, ran their own brothel, and set up the first informal trade union for prostitutes. Now they bid their farewells. A portrait of these remarkable women, as well as a history of the Red Light District in Amsterdam over the past fifty years.

BIOGRAPHY:
Gabriëlle Provaas graduated in 1996 from the University of Amsterdam in Film and Television Studies, and in Art History and Psychology. She worked for Dutch broadcaster VPRO. Since 2002, she has worked as a freelance journalist for newspapers and magazines. Her work includes several screenplays and short documentaries. Rob Schröder was a professor in the graphic design and audio visual departments of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 1997, he co-founded the Sandberg Institute, where he has headed the department of design and new media for four years and continues to teach.
