SYNOPSIS:
The Babelics are irregular artists who work outside or at the edge of the art formalization and market to create an imaginary universe of their own. This audio-visual research aims at outlining this anarchic geography bursting with unknown self-learners who devoted their life to art. Their fascinating and unusual stories show us what happens when imagination and abusive creativity meet some incredible men, whose hands transform steel, wood, cement, rubbish, and common materials into a masterpiece. The result is a marvellous art form placed between art brut and a naïve, visionary handcraft.

BIOGRAPHY:
Alessandro Quadretti was born in 1974. In 2001, he graduated in Contemporary History; in 2002, he started to attend the biannual course on direction at the “Scuola di Cinema Televisione e Nuovi Media” in Milan. He is a director, film editor and lecturer of History and Language of cinema. He directed “Sensitive” a full-length documentary selected at FICA 2018 (Brasil) and in many festivals, “Espero” a feature-length movie (2015) selected at various international festivals and “The last beach. Pola between the Vergarolla massacre and exodus” (2016) broadcasted at RAI and Mediaset TV channels.
