Today’s crisis is characterized by a huge political vacuum in which people feel disoriented, stuck between a past now long gone, and little hope for the future. Young people are the ones most affected by this situation, having hardly any example to follow and not much left to believe in, yet there was a time when a similar crisis was overcome. Reading the present through the eyes of Antonio Gramsci, Pietro Nenni and Sandro Pertini, a trip between Italy, France and Spain investigates the current crisis in the light of a past that now seems so far away.

Bernard and Huey

Based on characters from Jules Feiffer’s ‘Village Voice’ comic strip dating back to 1957, roguish Huey, and nebbishy Bernard are unlikely friends in late ’80s New York. Twenty five years later, Bernard is a successful bachelor, and Huey arrives on his doorstep looking much older. As the two reconnect, Bernard starts a relationship with Huey’s daughter Zelda.

The Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, opened in 1968, is an epoch-defining structure by the architect Mies van der Rohe. Nearly 50 years later, Ina Weisse examines the period in which this unique edifice was constructed. She is the daughter of the architect Rolf Weisse, who used to work with Mies van der Rohe in Chicago. In many interviews with her father, Mies van der Rohe’s grandchild Dirk Lohan, David Chipperfield who renovated the building and others, Ina Weisse tries to figure out how the edifice came into existence, and what is the vision of the world this building represents.
