In the nineties, the Roman music scene had its period of great success with a lot of musicians meeting every night on small and biggest stages. And on one of these stages begins the match between Niccolo Fabi, Daniele Silvestri and Max Gazzè to become a relationship and finally a strong bond for three artists that, later, would individually dominate the Italian songwriting scene. The three are still friends and they have been collaborating since then, crossing artistic paths and social commitment. Today, these three artists take their chance through Europe, leaving on a minivan that will take them to the main European clubs to play their music. In Berlin, Barcelona, through Paris, London, Amsterdam and more and more cities, the trio will play their music, dealing with international audiences. Cameras will follow our musicians through this journey, and spectators will look at Europe through the very eyes and words of the three artists. In this documentary, on one hand, Daniele, Max and Niccolò tell us about the European adventure they had and, on the other, they interact with the public mainly made up of Italian expats. The three artists listen to people’s voices, sharing their emotions and conflicting moods with them. It follows a frank and intimate story that underlines the loneliness in being a stranger in a foreign country and, at the same time, the relief for achieving a better lifestyle. Our protagonists became kind of Italian ambassadors: they leave to hear people’s personal stories and gathering their knowledge.

In this newly refashioned version of a classic love story, Schönberg’s music and Giraud’s poetry provide the dramatic framework for the tale of Pierrot Lunaire. A young woman that regularly dresses as a man falls in love and seduces a young girl that has no clue that her lover has the same sex. When the girl introduces her boyfriend to her father he becomes skeptical and unmasks the fraud. Even though, strangely, the feelings of the girl persist without shifting, the father does not allow them to ever see the other again. Furious and delusional the man develops an adventurous plan to prove his true ‘masculinity’ to the father of his lover.

“Life is sweet” tells Africa behind a song. It talks about the trip realized in October 2013 by Niccolò Fabi, Daniele Silvestri and Max Gazzè (Italian songwriters) in Southern Sudan with the Italian NGO Doctors with Africa CUAMM. It’s a trip far from everything, to rediscover themselves and restart again. Main protagonists are the authenticity of the meeting with others and Africa, a country oppressed and crushed but beautiful, happy and able to overcome obstacles, without losing smile. “Life is sweet. Africa behind a song” is the extended version of the webdoc “Life is sweet” (www.lifeissweet.it).

In the opening scene, we are witness to an old man’s lament about a world he no longer understands. Subsequent sequences gradually introduce us to various inhabitants of an unspecified southern Italian village and to the many bizarre situations in which the characters of the three vaguely adumbrated stories appear. Although some of them meet on a daily basis, we receives scant information about their relationships, let alone their lives, and with no plot context. Nevertheless, the tone generated by the artfully composed shots and musical accompaniment suggests something inauspicious, even subliminally disturbing. The film seeks to explore the typical Italian provincial world where the effort to be new and modern clashes with a commitment to deeply rooted traditions.

If you saw Lupe in her bathrobe and slippers, stuck at home making pies, you would never imagine that back in the 80´s she was a famous pop-rock star. She is now agoraphobic and lives wholly dependent on her mother Paquita, a superstitious Mexican woman, and has a teenage son, Pancho who hates her.

The documentary “Burlesque – A Woman’s story” tells the real experiences of Italian women who have changed their lives for the Burlesque. Eve La Plume, Milena Bisacco, Janet Fischietto, Scarlett Martini, Albadoro Gala and Betty Rose are the protagonists of this film that tells their different stories linked by a fil rouge that one day made them exclaim: “I was Burlesque and I did not know”. Their voices compose a single choral story that emerges from the interviews – portraits, enriched with unpublished images of performances and workshops.

Anna, Mauro, Milena do not know each other, but they have something in common: they left Italy to go abroad and to bet on the possibility for a better future. An entire generation is bleeding out of area. Not only brains, but ‘normal’ young people, halved citizens, divided between a life with greater opportunities and a sense of dearth and frustration that all kind of exile, even though voluntary, involves. The film tells what young Italians abroad do, think and dream; whether they’ll remain or come back. A trip from Vienna to Paris, Tenerife, Bergen, London and NY; six stories of separation, a single story: that of a forgotten generation, which still has something to say to his homecountry.
