Tremors

When Pablo arrives at his family’s house outside Guatemala City, everyone is already waiting tensely for this beloved brother, son and husband to appear. Everyone at the clan’s villa is horrified: Pablo has fallen in love with another man, Francisco. In doing so, he is calling into question all the values by which this deeply religious evangelical family lives. In spite of resistance from his relatives, Pablo moves in with Francisco, who is closely linked to the city’s subculture and leads a completely different, liberated existence. Pablo loses his old home, but somehow never really settles in the new one. His wish to unite the two worlds turns out to be a dead end. Putting their faith before everything else, his relatives are adamant that Pablo can be ‘healed’. With help from their ultra-religious community, the family does everything in its power to get their prodigal son back on track, no matter the cost

Through a routine made of part-time jobs, bar friends and no hobbies, Jack starts asking himself about what being a man means, beside the body characteristics, and what kind of a man he should be, wondering about what kind of masculine models are offered by his valley.

Michele, in full creativity crisis, is unable to finish the fresco on which his artistic career depends. Abandoned by the rich girlfriend, he is forced to leave his home with a small sum of money given to him in case of financial difficulties. He finds himself in search of inspiration, without livelihood and invaded by extravagant neighbors of his newly rented house. Rosalia, a folk singer, waiting for the necessary documents to free her daughter forced into a psychiatric hospital due to bureaucratic trappings. I can’t wait to meet up with Andrea, a neighbor in search of success and Salvo, an actor in search of fame who lives reciting his own personal life.
Completely desperate, the “neighbors” will change Michele’s convictions and make him smile again. This however implies compromises for everyone.

Mr. Dimitris lives her life in the conservative Greek fishing village where she was born. She nursed her dying parents and now lives alone, able, at last, to enjoy her femininity by dancing in the street to old pop records, watched by her cat. Misunderstood by family but celebrated by journalists covering the refugee crisis, her resilience is captured by a Lesbian film maker similarly aware of what it means to grow up different in a tiny traditional community.

Miserere

It is a sweltering day in Buenos Aires, Miserere square and the railway station are packed. Almost unnoticed, a group of guys prostitute themselves for very little money. Their thoughts emerge, deadening the oppressive hustle and bustle of the square and the station.

“Miserere” reveals an invisible problem: the prostitution of needy men in the big Latin American cities.
