SYNOPSIS:
“Broken Memory, Shining Dust”, is a humble and honest attempt to depict the extraordinary journey of Kashmiri women experiencing loss, separation, pain, anger, helplessness, faith, grit and determination amidst societal tragedies and circumstances. Woven around the life of Parveena Ahanger, a Kashmiri mother and other women, the film is about “women in wait” for their loved ones, who went missing in the conflict ridden valley of Kashmir, India, in last two decades, and interweaves their memories of struggle and devotion into a resistance movement.

BIOGRAPHY:
Nilosree Biswas is an independent documentary filmmaker and writer. Over the span of her career, she has worked on media projects for OXFAM (India), UNICEF, Caldecott Productions International, Three Sixty Degree (Singapore), National Geographic, UNESCO, and World Bank. She has produced and directed films on land rights movements and gender and women`s rights in India. Her feature length documentary titled “Women, Water and 1000 Miles” for Caldecott Productions International won Best Camera Work at the New York Festival 2009.
