Shot on location for over 2 and a half years, ‘A new moon over Tohoku’ is a moving story of love, survival and Japanese tradition in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Northeastern Japan. A powerful story how family and community help rebuild the human spirit and keep dreams alive. Tohoku people speak of the profound, mystical understanding that strength has always come from their ancestors: a young boy with a dream for the future and an old samurai with a new battle to fight both discover something intangible and yet so essential to human life.

Linda Ohama is a third generation Japanese Canadian independent filmmaker, writer and visual artist. She's currently working on a new feature The inland sea' in Japan. Among her works: 'The last harvest' (1992), 'Obaachan's garden' (2001), 'A sense of Onomichi' (2007).
