SYNOPSIS:
Hou was a part of Chinas first rebellious generation of rock and roll musicians in the 80s, a different era when artists of all trades were hungry, anxious, and in search for catharsis and self-expression. Hou is now in his 60s. He suffered a stroke in 2010 and lost his ability to speak for a time. After three years of recovery, Hou is ready to compose again. The rock song he composes will be dedicated to his youth and his illness. So many things have changed since 1980s, but is there anything that will never change? For those Chinese rockers, no matter how old they are, Rock and Roll will always be their way of living, and they will always share the same Rock Spirit.

BIOGRAPHY:
Zuxin Hou hails from Beijing, China. She got her master degree from School of Cinematic Arts of USC (University of Southern California). She has traveled to more than 20 countries as a travel scholar, photographer, and as a dedicated community volunteer. She has worked as a journalist for the South China Morning Post and Beijing Youth Weekly. She is working as a screenwriter and director in both China and the U.S. The Voice of China distributes a series of documentaries, such as The Master, directed and produced by her. My Dad's a Rocker won the Best Short Documentary in the 30th Warsaw International Film Festival 2014 and Best Student Documentary in the 30th International Documentary Award 2014. She is the first Chinese filmmaker ever won an IDA award in history.
