The choice of these festivals is not random. Belgrado Doc&Short FF is one of the longest and unstoppable festivals in Europe, it survived the bombing of the city and is the only event in the Balkans dedicated to experimental cinematography. Winners include Dusan Vukotic, a 1961 Oscar winner for Surogat (“Ersatz”). Another official partner of RIFF this year is Jameson Cinefest, a prestigious Hungarian festival dedicated to young filmmakers. The third partner FEC is a famous Spanish festival for shorts that occurs in the spring in Catalonia. It is known for its quality of works and its collaboration with the director Bigas Luna. The three festivals will be presented at RIFF Thursday, March 20 at 5pm at Nuovo Cinema Aquila.
