During the 90’s unrest in Turkey, a young punk rocker in Istanbul tracks down a cruise ticket to Californiaon the night of his birthday gig. Based on the director’s personal family story.

In 90’s Istanbul, Ozan is a young punk rocker who dreams of releasing a record in California. His father, Altan, is a former musician whose career was ended by a coup attempt. On the day of Ozan’s birthday, they get into a heated argument about Ozan’s future. Ozan leaves home to meet with his friend Deniz who tells him about a cruise ticket to California the next morning. Ozan and his girlfriend Lara set out through the city to house parties and underground rave party at a junkyard, to shisha bar on the search for the ticket.

Pharmakon

“Pharmakon”is set in a new built, ghost town resembling, outskirt of Tirana, in the eve of an upcoming building market crash. Branko, a young man of 25, has recently returned to his hometown, from his studies in the United States, as his mother struck by an incurable disease has passed away. Branko’s life is controlled by his father, Dr. Sokrat, as he works for him in his pharmacy, a façade to cover dubious activities of the prescription drugs business in which Dr. Sokrat is involved. One of Branko’s main duties is to find appropriate apartment houses, for his father to invest his money in. It is a job he does reluctantly, like any other job. Branko leads a lonely life, until he finds interest in Sara, a nurse in his father’s hospital.

La bataille d’Alger un film dans l’histoire

In 1965, three years after Algeria gained its independence, Gillo Pontecorvo began to shoot a film reconstituting the events of the Battle of Algiers (1957). The black and white newsreel-style film took the 1966 Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival. Effectively banned in France until 1971 in cinemas. Whereas Alger is the capital refuge of all anti-colonial fighters, the young Algerians identify with the legendary hero of the film, Ali la Pointe. In the 70s, for the spectators of the whole world, the film becomes the mirror of an epic.
