Takhar Prison. 40 women. 34 children. Four cells. No burqas. This documentary takes viewers inside one of the worlds most restricted environments: an Afghan womens prison. Through the prisoners own stories we explore how moral crimes are used to control women. Sima, married at ten, is locked away with her five children for 15 years. Her crime? Fleeing from an abusive husband, who already murdered one of his other wifes.

The movie is made up of two episodes.

Giulio, a thirty-year old worker on redundancy payment, is tired and embittered and his anarchic colleague convinces him to get unbaptized. Giulio’s religious family is outrage when they find out this disgraceful decision.

Giulio, a Chinese student who lives in Italy, makes friends with Maurino, an older card player who lives in Prato. He teaches Giulio the pleasure to play cards, and he teaches some things about life, too. It is the beginning of an unexpected journey.

They say that those who decide to commit suicide are men who have lost their image, they face a mirror now in pieces. Peter remained “Airless”, makes a desperate attempt to regain his lost dignity, to rebuild his shattered image.
