The Velasco family is made up of Leo, Alicia and their four-your-old daughter Dafne. They lead a conventional life in Madrid, Leo is always very busy and Alicia is in charge of the child. During the Christmas Holidays, Alicia suddenly dies after having an epilepic fit and her husband is left alone with the little girl. Dafne is terribly affected by the death of her mother and is constantly looking for a mother figure so Leo, who tries to give her as much attention as he possibly can, will abandon himself to the extent of jeopardizing his own identify.
