Ethel is a British social realist drama starring BAFTA winning actress Miriam Margolyes. The film looks at how Alzheimer’s Disease affects not only the elderly but all generations’ young and old alike. Ethel (Miriam Margolyes) is an elderly widow, living alone on a council estate and battling with dementia. She has a loving family who can’t afford to place her in a care home so instead she relies on daily visits and sticky notes covering her home to help her failing memory. Jack (Elijah Baker) is a small-time drug dealer selling weed to his estate, but he needs more cash and fast. While out selling scores to his buyers, Jack learns about Ethel living alone and her vulnerability house and decides to sneak into her home looking for items of value. But all is not as it appears. Ethel also stars Stephen Manderson (AKA Professor Green), JJ Hamblett of Union J and Hussain Manawer.

A lone car drives across the vast expanses of the Ukrainian landscape. Two young men are traveling to celebrate their elder brother’s birthday, but their plan is delayed when their car breaks down. The sun is going to set before long and there’s little chance of finding help in this god-forsaken place. They eventually decide to travel the rest of the long journey on foot, to be with their brother.

The artist is interested to investigate what nature looks like after human exploitation and to explore the physical (industrial) ruins as well as the void we have left behind.
